Boats waiting for fishermen at Town Cove in Orleans,
Massachusetts on an early summer morning. Anchored by
a steady mooring, with the promise of a hot day, the triad
reminded me of ladies in waiting, gentle, calm, uncomplaining.

I have begun to ponder the power of the subjunctive tense in
English, and it tickles me to think of these boats, floating,
as it were, on a saltwater pearl sea.

Come tomorrow.
