This smaller painting is a study for
“Equanimity.”

I learned about this amazing turquoise
barn last December and finally managed
a painting trip in February.

The barn is owned by the Audet family
in Bridport, Vermont, and is part of the
Blue Spruce Farm.

Equanimity is descriped as a state of
psychological stability and composure,
the ground for wisdom which ultimately
creates a radiance and warmth of being.
While I was struggling to understand the idea
of equanimity, my mind kept returning
to the simpler concept of equilibrium, where
all competing influences are balanced.

This painting has aspirations of equanimity
(as I do) but is grounded in its personal equilibrium.
