oil on canvas

in the artist’s private collection

Across the street from Pale Humility (a little house with one door and one window),
this barn on Elm Street in Pittsford, Vermont was my second barn painting.

The clarity of the light and the view through the narrow opening all spoke to me.
In my daily walks past this beautiful barn, I still feel the pull of the simple architecture
set on a ridge with views in all directions. This barn is more ‘church’ to me than
any cathedral.
