Cupolas amaze me. I love the idea that they are a barn’s source
of exhalation. Old barns often have wonderful individualized
variations of this functional necessity, with complicated
multiple gables and arched louvered windows. With Breathing
Room, I imagine the cupola as the head of the barn, peeking its
face out of a massive body and peering into the distance.
I see in this old barn clear perceptions, resolute thoughts, quiet
inspiration. A mare’s tail sky, a metal roof and a reflected wall
bring me back to the present moment. I feel like taking a deep breath.
