let it shine

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine
Everyday, everyday, everyday in every way
I’m gonna let my little light shine.
There is a blinding beauty to metal roofs I really love.
There is also a beauty in the idea of letting light
shine in the darkness. This little study was started
in the midday sunshine in Bristol, Vermont.
This Little Light of Mine has become a civil rights
song of protest. While I want to express my delight
at form and composition, light and color, I’m also
acutely aware of another level of expression,
one that honors the challenges we face.
