Pilgrimage usually entails some separation
from the everyday world — Encyclopaedia Britannica
When my dear Aunt Margie was terminally ill,
I traveled to Plymouth Hospital to say goodbye,
and then wandered along the coast looking for
solace. I found this simple fishing shack by the
Plymouth Bay. The last of the Denehy sisters
was leaving behind her physical body, but the
Irish spirit of my mother and her two sisters
stays with me at every family celebration.
As this new reality of coronavirus has become
clearer by the day, I think we are all pilgrims
in search of deeper meaning and purpose.
