morning glory

oil on canvas

original in private collection

One late September morning in Denning, New York,
I was privileged to set up my easel at the childhood
summer home of one of my dearest friends. Her family
has owned the farmhouse and barn in the Catskills for
generations, caring for the land and buildings with striking
devotion. The visual haiku of two odd windows and a
dark barn doorway struck me as a quirky, minimalist
record of the quintessential barn.
