saving grace

In a private collection

Cadwell Farm has been my destination point on a four mile exercise loop for
twenty years. Reaching the barn was a reward for effort expended, sometimes
in sub-zero weather, ice storms, driving rain — as well as sunshine.

While I worked on this painting I was conscious that one of the owners was
nearing the end of his life. The building seemed to breathe for him, and to exude
a glow of appreciation for all he had done to support and care for it.
