What happens
when humans decide
to stop,
to sit still,
to be quiet,
to wait together
in a wooden-floored room?

I discovered the lovely poet and theologian
Pádraig Ó Tuama, and listened to his insightful
words as I painted this painting.
He has published a book called Shelter,
based on an old Irish proverb:
‘It is in the shelter of each other that the people live’
and I thought about how much my own work centers
so often on shelters and what they represent.
