This funny still life was a gift to my parents
when I was just out of college, and now that
both my parents have died, it is filled with
memories of being in their home, touched
that it meant so much to them.

I’ve grown jade plants most of my adult life
and they seem to thrive in the benign neglect
I offer my indoor plants.
