Come What May

In the depths of winter, I was looking through a lovely book,
The American Barn by photographer David Plowden. All the
images are in black and white, and one particular barn,
located in Bradford, Vermont, called out for a colorful
interpretation. I tried to find this simple barn with its
elegant cupola. I called the town clerk’s office and eventually
reached local historian Larry Coffin. Sadly, the Reynold’s
Farm Barn blew down some time after the photo was taken
in 2001. I decided to paint my own homage to both David
Plowden and the cupola. In form and function, these old
decorative cupolas stand guard over the treasure within.
